Despite having one of the shorter careers out of their contemporaries, the El MidaZ Affair were one of the biggest groups of the early 1970s. Comprised of lead vocalist Javier El MidaZ, drummer Willie “Knuckles” Johnson, bassist Bobby “Too Tall” Willingston, guitarist K.C. Anderson, backup vocalist Rasheeda “Bird” Jackson, horn players Jake and Drake Wyman, and keyboard player Guter Jivelbergen, the group earned their reputation on the chittlin circuit as a must-see live act, playing festivals, state fairs, and jook joints across the south.

By the time they signed a record contract in 1973, the group was at the height of their buzz. But things took a turn for the worse. Studio sessions were tainted by drug use, alcoholism, and an unprecedented pinball machine addiction stirred inner turmoil among the band members. Though a full-length album was recorded, the band split up before it could be released and the project was shelved indefinitely. The members of the El MidaZ Affair moved on to new phases in their life, while El MidaZ himself became a recluse, never to be heard from again.

Until now.

There was a nice mention of GVM's Rhythm Lounge on Florida Today's website. Some nice photos were posted. Once I link with the photographer, I will name drop. It's a good look. We are bringing a new look to Brevard. Prop's to Dondi and staff for all the effort and trust.

On top of my weekly residence @ Rhythm Lounge (Dondi's Downtown), I will also be DJing at the same location (Dondi's Downtown LOL) this Friday 10/9 During the street fest. Alongside Dj Bidi, drink specials and all. There will be plenty festivities during the evening but we will be setting up musica @ 9pm.

Not sure if I will be recording Friday's set but you can STILL download a prime time segment of last Thursday's set! And there is a "marketing mix" (for promotional use only) brewing.

Starting this Thursday, I will be the resident DJ for a night called "Rhythm Lounge" @ MOONSTRUCK in Downtown Melbourne. This is NOT a dance night. We are creating a relaxed, social vibe with a soundtrack of Hip Hop, Soul, 80's, Breaks, and Cakes! Drink specials and all that. The spot is live. There's a pool table and Wii for you & yours.

The back to school rush is now over. The past weekend was small in comparison to last year but still busy at times. Long hours, good setting though. This year's cast was more in tuned with eachother and had a little more fun. A lot of heat touched ground and we created a wave that stretched across to FootLocker! LOL Big up 57736! And everyone back in school.. Study your lessons!
